For the Love of Food

Food is fuel. Food is comfort. Food is family.
Food is feelings and how we feel about food is important.
My journey with food has had its highs and lows and I think I am finding balance with my view towards it all.
I grew up eating more than I needed of the wrong nutrients and missed out on building a healthy relationship with food at an early age.
I went to weight loss training, thought I needed to diet at a young age and had many battles with my love for food.
As I’ve grown older I have learned about the truths of food and how our views and beliefs are just as important to our balance and digestion.
Now I am understanding how I think and feel while I’m eating is going to affect how I feel after I eat. I am realizing that I don’t need to label food as healthy or unhealthy and that my intuition will guide me towards true nourishment.
Although I am still learning and growing with all of this knowledge, I know that I have come along way from the beginning and that my journey is never ending.
There have been many beliefs I’ve had and changed along the way, but I know that my inner wisdom will always overpower all of the noise.
As a way to build awareness of my daily habits with food and accountability, I used a food journal or just made a note of what I ate from day to day as I could. I didn’t count calories, macros or even weigh my food but I just wrote down what I ate just to know for myself how much overall and what it was that nourished my body each day.
I have used this tool in waves and also enjoy writing about my food beliefs and experiences in a journal freely. There are many ways that we can grow and build a healthy relationship with food and I strongly believe that my self care practice and self awareness has helped me on this journey.
Additionally, I have had the support of amazing people and places that showed me the truth and brought out the light in me. I am grateful for all of the souls I’ve crossed paths with along my journey with food and spiritual healing.
