Mother Earth “Self Care”

Updated: Nov 13, 2024

When it comes to self-care, we should remember that we are impacted by our environment daily. The health of our planet and community are directly related to our own health as well.

That being said, it only makes sense to include our world around us in our daily self-care routine. Although there are a lot of ways to help out on Earth Day, there are also tons of things we can do every day and not only once a year.

These are some of my favorites:

- Outdoor Yoga

You might think of this as something that only benefits you, but when you are practicing yoga and sending out positive energy and healing out there to the universe, it can be received from anywhere in the world. Yoga can also mean grounding and spending time in the garden or in nature in any way. Movement of the body outside can help us feel good, but also send positivity to the plants and life around us.

- Planting seeds/Gardening

This is a bit more obvious of how this helps the Earth directly. This is something that can benefit us and the Earth, which should really be how all of our actions are made to be honest. Starting somewhere is better than nothing and this is a great way to help the soil, air and other plants growing outside too! (Depending on what you plant and where)

- Cleaning up trash outside

Littering means you are lazy, selfish and ignorant- I saw this on a lawn sign the other day and could not agree more at first. Although I know why people do not respect the Earth is mostly because they do not respect themselves and have very low self-esteem and care for how they feel so they do not care about how anyone/thing around them feels. This is a hard part of healing and helping earth, but know that leading by example is the best way to make progress. Cleaning up our own mess and neighborhood is the only way to prevent litter. We cannot control every person and what they do, but we can control what we do when we see litter and choose to pick it up or leave it, even if we didn’t leave it there first.

- Eating plant-based food

There is no doubt that our planet was designed for all animals to help each other and work together. Some animals eat others to survive, some eat plants, some humans can choose to eat animals or they can choose to eat plants. Even if we eat local grass-fed meat that was raised ethically and only every week or less, we are still doing more damage to the planet than good. Plants are alive and give you life energy like no other, meat is dead and is simply not giving the same nutrients as the plant in original form. Most animals that we consume actually have a diet of mostly plants and do not need to hunt or kill other animals, but yet we still take advantage on a global scale. Eating animals uses more natural resources and honestly it just feels weird to think about killing and eating an animal. If we were supposed to eat meat, wouldn’t we be able to eat it the same way other animals do, raw and right off the bone? I don’t know anyone who hunts in the wild with their bare hands and eats the animal raw without cooking it first. What other animal does this? Animals deserve to live just like we do.

- Singing, dancing and being outside!

On a more happier note, one of the best things you can do on Earth day or any day, is to raise Mother Earth’s frequency with high vibration activities and energy filled creations! Sharing our voice and lifting up our community through music is an amazing way to connect with yourself and Mother Earth on a spiritual level. Moving our body and making noise are a must on the self-care list so might as well spread more love with the intention to heal our place we call home.

This is only a short list of what we can all do to live a life with more purpose and gratitude for all life, of course there are so many more not included here.

Remember to always do your best and keep shining bright like a star that you are!
